Recommended Russian Adoption Resources - "the short list"

The big list got too big, here is a short list of favorite sites for those interested in adoptions from Russia. No real "favorites", these are all handpicked great resources.  Nominations for addition are welcome.

International Adoption - About.com - Rather remarkably well done starting point. Addresses all aspects of adoption. 
Young People in Changing Societies CEE/CIS/Baltics - Report from Unicef, Innocenti Research Centre, highlighting the situation of children in Russia, Eastern Europe and the FSU.
The Human Rights Watch report on orphanage conditions in Russia Abandoned to the State. This material amplifies the work of CSI cited below. It is important, however,  not to overlook the positive efforts of many groups working with children in Russia. Look at some of these sites.
The State of the World's Children 1998 (Focus on Nutrition) and The State of the World's Children 2001 by UNICEF - Must reading for those concerned.  Also recommended background reading is Maternal and Child Health U.S./Russia - from CDC and available by pdf.

Dr. Dana Johnson - International Adoption Clinic, University of Minnisota - Here there is balanced medical advice and access to several articles.  Also, and new is a review article concerning the significance of Head Circumference in Preadoption Medical Evaluations.
Adopt: Assistance Information Support Site with a  review of the steps involved in International Adoption. Also at this site is the article Choosing an international adoption agency by Cynthia Teeters.

National Adoption Information Clearinghouse (NAIC)
Association for Research in International Adoption (ARIA) - Provides access to the report Trajectories of Despair by CSI on orphanage conditions in Russia, and a very balanced article by Dr. Dana Johnson "Adopting an Institutionalized Child: What are the Risks?".  Part of Elinor Ames' important study of Romanian children adopted by Canadian families can also be found at this site. Risk and Protective Factors in Children Adopted from the Former Soviet Union Teena McGuinness' study of behavioral outcomes in children adopted from the CIS. This study is a step toward taking this important question beyond the realm of anecdotes and opinion, and is recommended reading.
The Joint Council on International Children's Services endeavors to provide current information regarding international adoption legislation and regulations.
The Adoption Agency Guide by Mary Lib Mooney. At this site is a page devoted to the important question of choosing an agency.
International Adoption Bulletin Board from ParentsPlace, or see their list of  Parenting Bulletin Boards. The agency Little Miracles also supports an active Russian Adoption BB as does this site. FRUA sponsors a chat forum. EEAD is an active listserver sponsored by A Child's Hope. There are several Yahoo groups:  russianadoptolder created for people who have or are considering adopting an older child from Russia, Russian Adopt list is  open to all people who have adopted from Russia, or are considering adopting from Russia/Eastern Europe and the Russian Adoption List which is currently the largest. The A-PARENT-RUSS Mailing List has already been mentioned. New site regarding attachment disorder is at Hope for kids YahooIndependent Russian Adoption.
